“My passion for travel and experiencing new cultures led me to begin my career in international education over 25 years ago as an English teacher in Colombia. Since then, I have worked in a wide variety of roles both in the UK and overseas including academic management, sales and marketing and school directorships. I am also a former school owner.
“I am very much looking forward to ensuring the students we welcome from all over the world have the best possible experience at our wonderful college and achieve their learning objectives with the support of our fantastic team.
“When not working, I always try to take advantage of the amazing diversity of theatre, opera, entertainment and history that London has to offer, and obviously being half Italian, the great food scene too. My other loves are Salsa, motorbikes, diving and of course, being a father to my incredibly cool 12-year old daughter.”

"I am married with two wonderful little boys who keep me very busy in my spare time. I have lived in Poland and Germany, visited most of Europe and India. I am passionate about Liverpool Football Club and enjoy playing football with students. Brazilians are the best! I studied Political Science and enjoy discussing world events with people all over the world. The more I learn about different cultures from students the more I feel we can help them to learn."
Gaston Zapata

"I come from Chile and was a student at this wonderful college in 1996. I got involved in trips for students in the summer of 1997 and 12 years later I am still working here! As a well-travelled person (I've travelled to 10 countries in Europe and many cities in England!!) I am in a position to provide sound travel information of all kinds. Groups and individual students have benefited from my advice, enhancing their experience at Kings."
Nick Addy

"Previously I worked as a website designer, living in Vancouver and Brighton, before doing my CELTA and becoming an EFL teacher. It’s fascinating to work in an environment where you can meet and learn about people from all over the world. I was lucky to meet my now wife Ilona, from Poland, when working at a different college. I am trying to learn Polish, but it’s a very difficult language. I am busy renovating our flat at the moment, but when I have some free time, I enjoy world cinema and attempting to cook food from different countries – Indian is a personal favourite!"
Emma Carlile
Assistant Director of Studies
Emma helps to organize the classes, the teachers, the classrooms and the books and help make sure that our students are happy so that they can achieve their potential and have a happy time at Kings.
"I have worked at Kings since 2006 and I love it! I have a BA in French and Russian and an MA in TESOL. I have been teaching for five years and I have lived in Russia and France. When I’m not working, I enjoy experimenting with new recipes and playing the piano. I also love arts and crafts such as knitting, card-making and cross stitching. I spend a lot of time in Cornwall, where I enjoy going for long walks along the beach, painting watercolour scenes and drinking hot chocolate in cafes! The best part about my job is that I meet people from all over the world and learn about how life is lived in other countries. I also love Karaoke nights at Kings!"

While students are at the college, Laura also helps them with any welfare problems they might face.
“I previously worked in both the property and media industries in London and South Africa. I am a keen traveller with India being my favourite and most interesting country so far. I love the fact that each day at Kings is different as well as being a challenge. I would say that meeting different people from various cultures, with plenty of stories, is a big plus of my role.”
Mark Poolton

Mark is responsible for managing resources and organising classes on the academic programmes. He also advises students on how to achieve their learning goals.
"Since graduating in Politics I have spent several years working in international education both as a language teacher in Greece and Italy and more recently as a Government and Law tutor at Kings Oxford. In addition to an interest in current and political affairs, in my spare time I enjoy cycling and taking long country walks. I also like travelling, meeting new people and learning about different cultures. Italy is one of my favourite holiday retreats and it goes without saying that I love Italian food and wine!"

“I have recently joined Kings London and I am really enjoying my new role and my colleagues are very supportive and helpful. I enjoy meeting new people and spending time with my 3 children and husband. I love to read, especially autobiographies as I enjoy finding out about peoples lives and experiences. We have a family home in Malta which I try to visit a couple of times a year to unwind and relax from the busy life at Kings. I am also a wine connoisseur and I love to try new wines from around the world.”

"I joined Kings in 2011 and I really love my job, it gives me a great chance to work with students and agents from all over the world. I have been working in the international education industry for the past eight years involved with all aspects of agent support, student recruitment and admissions. I find it very rewarding to be able to mix and share experiences with people from so many different countries on a daily basis. I have a Degree in Hotel Management and the diversity of the Travel Industry has always been my passion.
I am originally from Brazil and apart from living in London I have also lived in the USA and travelled extensively around South America and South East Asia, this combined with years working with international students really makes me understand how wonderful and at the same time daunting it can be to live in a different country. It is a great chance for personal growth and I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone! I absolutely love travelling and making international friends, and in my spare time I enjoy going for long country walks and discovering new places. I speak fluent Portuguese and Spanish and my next goal is to learn Italian as well!"
