Overview
The University of Louisville traces its legacy to 1798. Today, more than 170 degrees are offered by 12 schools and colleges, with many nationally ranked programs. More than $200 million was recently invested on upgrading equipment, computers, and facilities to create a state-of-the-art learning atmosphere. The university is also one of the fastest-growing research institutions in the nation. University of Louisville faculty conducted the world's first successful implantation of a fully implantable artificial heart, developed the world's first effective cervical cancer vaccine and completed the nation's first successful hand transplant.
